Hotel de Paris, Cromer
Tomorrow, 11th, my husband and I are going on a coach trip to Cromer in Norfolk where we will be meeting up with some 'old' friends who we have not seen for several years.  I hope the sun will shine, but I guess we have seen the last of the good weather now.  Anyway, we don't have to drive, so we can relax and enjoy the countryside.  We return on Wednesday so there will not be much time to produce eNews next week.  I have managed a reasonable one this week even though it is a day early!!

From  Adrienne Dellwo, your Guide to Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Do you feel weird about using a motorized scooter at the grocery store? What about getting a handicapped license plate? A lot of us feel like those things aren't meant for us, no matter how limited we may be. Learn why they are something you should take advantage of, as well as some other helpful things you might want to consider, below.
Also this week, I'm focusing on improving your function through non-treatment avenues. You might be surprised at how much those little things can add up! This theme continues down in Featured Articles.
I wasn't able to link anything to the forum this week because of some technical glitches. I'll get those added as soon as I can!
Thank you for bearing with me through all the changes.
Take care of yourself!

Creating a Supplement Program for Fibromyalgia and ME/CFS That Works: the Fundamentals

In the first part of a three-part series on  supplements and Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue  Syndrome we looked at Five Supplement Mistakes You Don’t Want to Make With Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia.
In part II we discuss how to build a nutritional plan that “works”. By works, I mean that if our health improves – great, if it doesn’t then we can walk away knowing we’ve given it our best shot.

Small Fiber Neuropathy Fibromyalgia Study Raises Questions

At least five studies have found significantly increased rates of small fiber neuropathy (SFN) in the skin of people with Fibromyalgia. SFN refers to the damage or destruction of the small unmyelinated sensory and/or autonomic nerve fibers. It’s believed that damage to these nerve fibers may cause symptoms such as tingling, burning sensations and pain.

Innovative Nutrient Helps Repair Damaged Mitochondria & Reduce Fatigue up to 45%

Clinical trials have shown that NT Factor® can actually support the repair of damaged cell membranes - in effect reducing the cells' biological age and restoring mitochondrial ability to generate energy.
This is true whether the reduced energy/fatigue is from an illness like ME/CFS or fibromyalgia, a side effect of chemotherapy, or simply a result of aging. Studies done with severely fatigued patients in each of these populations demonstrated that NT Factor can support reduction of fatigue levels by as much as 45 percent.(1-3)

Four Ways Vitamin B1 Helps Fibromyalgia

Lets face it – we’ve got a lot on our plates these days.  The pace of life seems to be moving faster than it ever has, we’re forced to juggle a seemingly un-juggleable amount of problems and on top of all that we’ve got to try to cope with this widely unknown but terribly debilitating illness called fibromyalgia.
For anyone facing the daunting reality of life with fibromyalgia we recommend making small changes, which over time can have a large impact.  One small change you can start making today is to make sure your body is getting the essential vitamins & nutrients it needs to fight the various symptoms of fibromyalgia.  Among those essential vitamins is B1, which has many properties that can directly benefit fibromyalgia patients.  Lets take a look at four ways vitamin B1 can boost your health:
 1.  Increases energy production
 2.  Improves Brain Health

Christmas Stress

We have had the following request for a feature which gives us another opportunity to get FM out there.  Please contact pam.stewart@fmauk.org with a few details if your profile fits and you would be willing to share your story.
“Women who moaned about aches and pains or migraines during the festive season but put these down to carrying too many shopping bags full of Christmas presents, eating too many mince pies, or stressing about who was coming round for lunch and if they’d bought enough presents – BUT these strains actually led to a more serious diagnosis.”
Any other Christmas related stories would be useful as well.  There are many journalist looking to write Christmas themed health stories.

Thank you for reading this. If anyone has any questions then please email the office on head.office@fmauk.org

A personal  note from Vicky

Happy Birthday to us!!
We have been going for three years now and some of you have been with me from the start, which is very satisfying for me.  We’ve grown considerably during that time to the nine classes we now have at the hall.
We have had several new people joining us this week and there are more men coming along - welcome! There are still some classes which are still just women the boys seem to like safety in numbers!
Several people have told me this week about how wound up they get.  Todays education is how to relax, something we should all try to do.  I hope it helps.  We always do 10 minutes relaxation at the end of our yoga class.  People tell me they sleep very well that night.  Some of you might like to try a Fitness yoga class.  Your first class is free.  Contact me if you fancy trying the class it is more dynamic than the Pilates classes not suitable for everyone.

Tories: DLA And PIP To Be Taxed, All ESA Claimants To Be Hit By Freeze

There are unconfirmed, but entirely credible, reports that the Conservative party is planning to make disability living allowance (DLA) and personal independence payment (PIP) taxable benefits in order to help pay for tax cuts for people currently in the top tax bracket.
In addition, we reveal that all employment and support allowance (ESA) claimants are to be hit with a freeze on their benefits if the Tories get back into government in 2015, not just claimants in the work-related activity group. George Osborne’s weasel words at the Conservative party conference misled many, including us.

N.B. I would like to point out to you that the information in my FMS eNews blog is passed on to you mainly from other sources.
Links are given to the original articles. I take no responsibility for their accuracy but freely give them publicity if I think they might be of interest to my readership. Sites I refer you to are for information only. They might conflict in their opinions, they might not even be medically sound, but I merely offer them for you to peruse and make your own judgements, accept or reject as you will. Only by reading widely can we get an overall picture of fibromyalgia syndrome and how we can deal with its symptoms, learn to cope with them and still have a life. Any advice or recommendation of a medical or legal nature should always be discussed with a qualified professional.
I also include various awareness items, benefits issues, as well as general health considerations. Anyone wishing to reproduce any of the included items in printed form should seek permission from the originators.
Wordz for the Week are from ‘Wordz for the Day’ by Donnie Kuhn, Sr. who died in May 2011.
This eNews is my personal offering to fibromyalgia sufferers and their carers and is not related to any other organisation or charity.
If you don’t already get reminders when each new FMS eNews is posted, please send an email to fmsstella@gmail.com and you will be added to the emailing list.
