 2015 is here!

I promised something of a 'New Look' for the 'New Year'.  Well, we have new dividers (purple) and I am making the links mainly in the title instead of at the end.  Links appear in brown.  Headings in purple are not links. I hope this works for you.  Email me if you have any problems.

WORDz for the WEEK

203.  The best gift you can ever give to people is to make them feel at least as special as they are.

From Adrienne Dellwo, your Guide to Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

I hope you had a Merry Christmas!
Once the holiday is over, it's time to take it easy for a while, right? I know that's what I'm doing! It's also a good time to reflect on the past year and start looking forward to the next. So let's take a journey back through 2014, with an article selected from each month.
Take Care of Yourself!

Operation Affirmation – by Purple Law Lady

Affirmations are a way for us to harness the mind's power by directing our intentions toward our best selves and our happiest lives.  Say this phrase to yourself all day long. Write it down, email it to yourself, and post it where you will see it all day.

Day 28 - I project love to everyone I meet
Day 29 - Happiness is a choice
Day 30 - I love and aprove of myself
Day 31 - The past has no power over me any more

Love your day, love yourself, love your life!
Say good-bye to the past and hello to the future:

To Affirm or Not To Affirm – A Question - By Purple Law Lady

So, after 31 days of affirmations, are you feeling empowered? Reassured? Are you on the way to relinquishing your fears and purging your anger, predicting your own future and living up to your potential?
Or (and be honest) did you find yourself reading the affirmations and feeling all sorts of angry? Feeling forced into positive thinking?
Okay, so it doesn’t work for everybody: it floats some people’s boats and, for others, it has more of a torpedo effect!
Megan Bruneau, from MindBodyGreen, has created a list of reminders (call them whatever you wanna call them), that actually help her live her own best life:

Supplements & Symptoms: 2014's Top Research and Wellness Articles

As a health-information seeker you see so many articles about nutritional supplements that it's sometimes hard to remember which ones can be beneficial for what. This overview of recent research publications, organized roughly by key symptoms, may help put it in perspective.

Neurontin and Lyrica are a Death Sentence for New Brain Synapses

Neurontin and its newer more potent version, Lyrica, are widely used for off-label indications that are an outright flagrant danger to the public. These blockbuster drugs were approved for use even though the FDA had no idea what they actually did in the brain. A shocking new study shows that they block the formation of new brain synapses1, drastically reducing the potential for rejuvenating brain plasticity – meaning that these drugs will cause brain decline faster than any substance known to mankind.

Fibromyalgia Articles?

A while back, I suggested that someone might like to raise the profile of fibromyalgia by contributing to Contributoria.  Well, here's the Jan edition and I've looked through the titles, and the titles for December, and the titles proposed for February and not a mention of fibromyalgia did I find!!  Come on now!  There must be budding, active or retired journalists reading this who could do an admirable piece on the subject, so what about it?  Who's prepared to have a go?    S.

Nicola's Note

Hello everyone,  We are soon to welcome in 2015. It's great to be able to look forward to a whole year of Tai Chi, Qigong and meditation. I am currently putting together the 2015 workshop schedule, where a few old favourites will be returning. In 2015 my classes will now focus around the Horsham and Faygate areas, which opens up more possibilities to come. Please view over the January 2014 calendar and the schedule here. Thanks for reading and I look forward to another fantastic year of training, teaching and learning ahead.
Regards, Nicola.

Are you making New Year Resolutions?  Do they work?  Or are they vague promises to yourself?

Unless they are going to genuinely benefit your health or welfare, or someone else's, then forget the idea. Being half-hearted helps no-one.

N.B. I would like to point out to you that the information in my FMS eNews blog is passed on to you mainly from other sources. Links are given to the original articles. I take no responsibility for their accuracy but freely give them publicity if I think they might be of interest to my readership. Sites I refer you to are for information only. They might conflict in their opinions, they might not even be medically sound, but I merely offer them for you to peruse and make your own judgements, accept or reject as you will. Only by reading widely can we get an overall picture of fibromyalgia syndrome and how we can deal with its symptoms, learn to cope with them and still have a life. Any advice or recommendation of a medical or legal nature should always be discussed with a qualified professional.
I also include various awareness items, benefits issues, as well as general health considerations. Anyone wishing to reproduce any of the included items in printed form should seek permission from the originators.
