Deficiency of Digestive Enzymes

I think that digestive enzymes need to be given the importance they deserve. Without the optimum amount of these enzymes our digestion and absorption of food and nutrients will be compromised and this can cause or add to many troublesome symptoms and I believe that by improving the efficiency of our digestive system and absorption of essential nutrients are essential for Fibromyalgia sufferers to be able to get back to lasting better health.

Vicky's Newsletter

Well Richard has retired and started his first project, the conversion of our kitchen and dining room into one big L shaped room.  I’ve not been very keen on this project from the start and yes I know it will be lovely when it’s finished but…  I feel I’ve been invaded.  I’ve got kind of used to my own space as have the cats!  I think they may need therapy.  I’m going out a lot and I’m afraid with no sink, oven or hob our diet has gone a bit to pot and everything is being microwaved.  I’m told the  project will only last a couple of months…

New Approach to Chronic Pain Leads to Novel Treatment Approaches: Antibiotics Anyone?

Pain Is Not All the Same
Brain imaging studies like functional magnetic resonance imagery (FMRI) have provided tantalizing
insights into the operation of the human brain. In this blog I’m going to review and highlight research and novel approaches by one of the leading researchers in the rapidly evolving area of chronic pain and the brain, Dr. A. Vania Apkarian, and his colleagues at Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois.

Pick the Question of the Month: The ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia Doctors’ Poll for April

The ten practitioners from Health Rising’s ME/CFS and FM Experts Panel has agreed to answer one question a month from the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Fibromyalgia community. We got about 50 questions and I winnowed them down to nine.  (It wasn’t easy)  I was looking for questions that might have application to a broad group of people and  that provided a good amount of information. Questions that were very basic (what is the right approach to treating ME/CFS or FM?), that were very specialized (why are my hands shaking?), that contained too many questions for the doctors to answer  (please tell  how to treat x,y and z) or that asked questions about research, how to find a doctor in a specific location and the like didn’t make the cut. Please use the poll at the end of the list of questions to pick the top three questions you’d like to see answered. The nine ME/CFS practitioners will answer the question that gets the most votes.

Slideshow: What to do Today to Sleep Better Tonight
Avoid Sleeping In

As tempting as it may be, don't try to make up for a lack of sleep by staying in bed on the weekends. Sleeping in won't make up for a sleep deficit. In fact, according to a recent Harvard study, when you snooze extra hours to compensate for sleep deprivation, your ability to focus is worse than if you had stayed up all night.

What's Your Pain Tolerance?
Everyone struggles with pain at some point, but how you tolerate pain can be up to you - By Katrina Woznicki

Why is back pain or a knee injury annoying to one person and sheer agony to another? Turns out, an individual's tolerance to pain is as unique as the person, and is shaped by some surprising biological factors, as well as some psychological factors that we can actually try to control.

What is Oil Pulling?  (Is it a good idea?)

Oil pulling – or oil swishing – is the practice of swishing oil around your mouth. Not all too fun a
concept when put literally, eh?
The catch (and the reason the internet is going wild over it) is, when oil pulling is done right (see below) you experience some really phenomenal health benefits.

Fibromyalgia in Tonbridge, NEWSLETTER – April/May 2014

● Hello to you all again. Isn’t it great to welcome this warm spring with open arms? With Easter just around the corner, this weather is giving us all a much needed boost of natural vitamin D from the sun that we all benefit from.
● We are delighted to have recently received a kind donation of £50.00 from the ASDA store in Kingshill from their Kingshill Community Life Scheme. We were made very welcome when we visited the store to collect our cheque and ASDA Community Colleague Claire Lawlor is very keen to help us with further fundraising.

N.B. I would like to point out to you that the information in my FMS eNews blog is passed on to you mainly from other sources. Links are given to the original articles. I take no responsibility for their accuracy but freely give them publicity if I think they might be of interest to my readership. Sites I refer you to are for information only. They might conflict in their opinions, they might not even be medically sound, but I merely offer them for you to peruse and make your own judgements, accept or reject as you will. Only by reading widely can we get an overall picture of fibromyalgia syndrome and how we can deal with its symptoms, learn to cope with them and still have a life. Any advice or recommendation of a medical or legal nature should always be discussed with a qualified professional.
I also include various awareness items, benefits issues, as well as general health considerations. Anyone wishing to reproduce any of the included items in printed form should seek permission from the originators.
