FMS eNews 08/12/12

Hello, and welcome to my new FMS eNews blog.

I hope to provide you with links to websites and other ideas that will give you ammunition to fight that ogre, fibromyalgia.  It won’t be very different from the old eNewsletters that I sent out from FMSSAS.   If anyone reading this is not on my emailing list and would like to receive a reminder whenever a new eNews is posted on this blog, please email me at fmsstella@gmail.com and I’ll add you in.  Anyone can contribute to this blog by adding comments at the end of my message.  Give us your tips, ask questions, make your recommendations, tell us your passions and your hates!  This doesn’t need to be onesided!  If you want to contact me privately please use the email address above.  I would like all this to be more interactive than in the past.  We shall still have Wordz for the Week from Donnie Khun’s book Wordz for the Day.  Wordz of wisdom most of us would not even dream of.

Pain management health centre - What is fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia, also known as fibromyalgia syndrome, is a chronic condition that characteristically causes pain all over the body, including muscle and joint pain, and fatigue as well as other symptoms. Fibromyalgia can lead to depression and social isolation.
In this overview of fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), we'll explain the symptoms. We'll talk about diagnosis and treatment. We'll also explain the impact fibromyalgia has on lives. The impact comes from the tremendous physical and psychological strains that come with FMS. Those strains can lead to los http://www.webmd.boots.com/pain-management/arthritis-fibromyalgia of work hours, reduced income, and even loss of a job.

MANAGING FIBROMYALGIA #30 - 12-1-12
By Pati Chandler,
HI Everyone!
As you may know I am a chronic compulsive obsessive researcher. And I try to keep my ears open when I chat with other folks who have chronic painful conditions. I pick up a lot of tips and ideas and helpful methods for managing pain and other symptoms, from all over the place. I thought I'd share some of these things.

If you have ME/CFS, odds are good that your heart rate falls outside of normal parameters, especially in certain situations. See how that could be responsible for misfires in your brain.

Dr. Pellegrino's fibromyalgia diet: It's metabolic, my dear
Dr. Pellegrino has seen thousands of fibromyalgia patients in his practice at Ohio Pain & Rehab Specialists, and has had fibro himself since childhood. This information is reproduced here by popular demand, with his kind permission.
A common problem observed in Fibromyalgia is weight gain. Many patients complain to me that weight gain became a major problem once Fibromyalgia established itself. . . . . . .

Protozoal Infection -- The Next Big Discovery?
A New Protozoa Appears Linked To Mystery Diseases
By Marc Braman, MD, MPH
New findings of a previously unknown protozoa in patients with conditions such as lupus, chronic fatigue, multiple sclerosis, Lou Gehrig's disease, etc may prove to be a major medical breakthrough.  While there are still some pieces of the puzzle to be proven, there are many pieces that fit so far.  Treatment may prove very challenging, but lifestyle and diet has a surprisingly profound effect on the organism and patients.

N.B.   I would like to point out to you that the information in my eNews  blog is passed on to you mainly from other sources.   Links are given to the original articles.   I take no responsibility for their accuracy but freely give them publicity if I think they might be of interest to my readership.  Sites I refer you to are  for information only.  They might conflict in their opinions, they might not even be medically sound, but I merely offer them for you to peruse and make your own judgements, accept or reject as you will.  Only by reading widely can we get an overall picture of fibromyalgia syndrome and how we can deal with its symptoms, learn to cope with them and still have a life.  Any advice or recommendation of a medical or legal nature should always be discussed with a qualified professional.
I also include various awareness items, benefits issues, as well as general health considerations.    Anyone wishing to reproduce any of the included items in printed form should seek permission from the originators.
Wordz for the Week are from ‘Wordz for the Day’ by Donnie Kuhn, Sr. who died in May 2011.
This eNews is my personal offering to fibromyalgia sufferers and their carers and is not related to any other organisation or charity.
I previously sent out emails as FMSSAS eNews.  Past issues of FMSSAS eNews can be found at www.fms-sas.co.uk/fmseNews.html and on a blog at http://fmssas-enews.blogspot.com  These ceased at the end of November 2012 when I resigned as a trustee. This blog commenced on 8th December 2012.
